Mrs. Annie Lee Waller was born as Annie Lee Lewis on June 16, 1934 at her parent’s, the late Odessa and Lee Lewis, home in Shiloh, GA. She was delivered by a midwife. She was the only living child.
Annie Lee attended St Paul Elementary School in Shiloh, GA. She attended High School in Woodland, GA where she played basketball for several years as guard. In addition to attending school, she worked in the field at the Peach Orchard. She also helped by working on the farm.
She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at St Paul Church where she served faithfully for decades until she became disable. She was very involved in the church. She served on the missionary board, stewardess board, she served as president and treasurer, she was on the building fund committee, the sick and shut in committee, she served as a class leader, she sung in the choir and she was a Sunday school teacher.
Annie Lee grew up and went to school with her soon to be husband and first love, Clarence Waller, Sr. They wedded in Holy Matrimony June 1953 on the front porch of her parents’ home in Shiloh, GA. From this union, they birthed 7 children; 5 girls (Brenda, Jannett, Sherry, Betty and Jackie) and 2 boys (Clarence Sr, and Anthony).
She worked at the Goody’s plant in Manchester, GA for many many years and eventually retired. She sung in the Goody’s choir in which she traveled to different areas in the south for competitions and live performances. She also worked as a substitute teacher for Talbot County school system for several years.
Annie Lee enjoyed crocheting blankets and clothing pieces. She loved bowling, fishing and dancing.
She served on the Habitat committee and the local newspaper committee. She was such a joy to be around. She loved to talk and entertain her family and friends. She was a great cook and one of her family favorite dishes was her chicken dressing.
Annie Lee Waller departed this life to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at her home. She was preceded in death by her parents’ Lee and Odessa Lewis, her husband Clarence Waller, Sr, her daughter Jannett Waller, her granddaughter Nikita Waller and her great granddaughter Kennedy Anderson.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her 6 children. Clarence Waller, Jr of Shiloh, GA; Brenda Jones of Lithonia, GA; Betty Copeland of Shiloh, GA; Sherry Carter (Theodore) of Lagrange, GA; Jackie Waller of Conyers, GA; and Anthony Waller of Conyers, GA. 16 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
