Sis. Turner department this earthly life on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 7:45 p.m. at Gentiva Hospice in Columbus, Georgia. Bettye was born May 31, 1948 in Manchester, Ga. to the late Susie M. Bridges and the late Hershal Bridges of Manchester, Ga.
Sis. Turner was the only girl of two boys, John L. Bridges and Alfred B. Bridges both proceeded her in death. Sis. Turner accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at an early age and was baptized in the Church of Christ where she served until she took ill.
Bettye went to school at the Meriwether County Training School, where she later worked for International Playtex until they closed their doors. Bettye became a homemaker and helped all she could help in the community. Bettye was a very loving, caring and giving person, is she had it, it was yours.
Bettye, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a great-grandmother, aunt, cousin and a friend. To know her is to love her she was a very outspoken person. She would have you laughing and crying all in the same sentence. Bettye loved her family dearly and prided herself in making sure everyone was okay.
On March 28, 1967 she was united in Holy Matrimony to her high school sweetheart Mr. Tommy L. Turner Jr. of Manchester, Ga. Bettye and Tommy celebrate the 50th Anniversary on March 28, 2017.
Bettye leaves to mourn a very loving, devoted and caring husband Mr. Tommy L. Turner, Jr. whom never left her side. Four wonderful children: Angela (Kenneth) Buchanan of Stone Mountain, Ga. Sonya (Keith) Carter of Warm Springs, Ga. Natasha Jackson of Jacksonville, Fla. Cornelius ( Valerie) Turner of Manchester, GA.;
Thirteen grandchildren: Otavious, Jasmine, Kayce, Breontonee, Kyle, Ivory, Brittany, Jada, Bryce, Joya, Tamara, Tiara and T. J. Three great- grandchildren: Braelyn, Tristan and Dior. One sister-in-law: Cynthia (Marvin) Oliver of Albany, GA., Two brothers-in-law: Bobby Ellison of Michigan and Seaborn Jackson of Albany, GA.; Three aunts she loved dearly Lue Ella Johnson of East Point, Ga. . Emma Waller of New Jersey and Christine Waller of Manchester, GA. Nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. A very dear cousin and friend whom came and checked on her daily Ms. Dorothy Turner.
