In the year of our Lord, 1937 on the 14 th day of June, in the City of Manchester, the State Of Georgia, Claude Warrior was born as the fourth child of Mr. Samuel and Mrs. Rosie Lee Warrior. He departed this life on Monday, December 3, 2018.
He received his Christian education and worshipped at New Hope Baptist Church.
He joined the church at an early age and served faithfully until this year when his health failed. He was president of the Board of Trustees, member of the Male Chorus and as recently as last month, member of the combined Annual Christmas Cantata choir.
Claude was reared and nurtured along with his siblings in a loving and God-fearing home. He was educated in the Meriwether County public schools of Manchester GA receiving his high school diploma in 1955.
Following high school, Claude enlisted in the United States Air Force and served for 10 years of active duty.
After completing the service to our country, he started his career in January 1966 as a Conductor with the Atlantic Coastline Railroad, which later became Seaboard Coastline Railroad. After the merger of the two entities, it became the present day CSX Railroad. Continuing as a railroad conductor, he retired with 32 years of service.
Claude was united in holy matrimony to Anne Marie Banning of Greenville, GA on December 23, 1967 and to that union, two children were born: Claude Anthony and Lisa Maria. In later years, they became the adoptive parents of their first grandchild, LaQuinton Anthony. Claude is also the father of Mary Ann, daughter from his first marriage.
Claude was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Fred, Marjorie, Ralph, and Jacqueline.
Those left to cherish his memory include a loving and caring wife, Anne; four children: Mary Ann, Stockton, CA, Claude Anthony, Newnan, GA, Lisa (Melvin) Favors, Stone Mountain, GA and LaQuinton (India), Hampton, GA; Seven grandchildren: LaToya McKensi, Tesla (Tavares) Alford, Ryan Warrior, Erik Warrior, Colby Warrior, Bradley Favors and Bryce Favors; Eight great-grand children; Two sisters: Mytrice Quillin, Chicago, IL, Lunette Davis, Linden, NJ; One brother Edward (Shirley) Warrior, Manchester, GA; In-laws: Juanita Warrior, Judy Fultz, Larry Banning, and Kenneth (Linda) Banning. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and close family friends that will miss him dearly.
