Dameion Antawan Prather

June 20, 1983 — February 11, 2021

Staff SGT Dameion Antawan Prather Sr. was born on Monday, June 20 1983 in Warm Springs, GA to Victoria Prather and Gary Prather.  At an early age, Dameion joined Flint River Baptist Church.
Dameion attended Central High School and graduated with the Class of 2002.
On February 12, 2003 Dameion joined the United States Army to serve his country.  He was a truly dedicated Soldier who served honorably and would do anything for anybody.  He served a total of 18 years with 2 combat tours; Iraq 2005-2006 and Afghanistan 2009-2010.
Dameion with his contagious smile traveled all over the world.  He attended Basic training at Fort Benning, GA (2003); trained for his career at Fort Gordon, GA (2003-2004); His duty stations were Hanau, Germany (2003-2007); Fort Lewis, WA (2007-2010); Fort Gordon, GA (2010-2014); Camp Humphreys, South Korea (2014-2015); Fort Drum, NY (2015-2020).
Dameion was known for his jokes, being a grill master, embellishment of stories, comical nicknames for everyone and was all about the GA DAWGS!  He would often refer to his mother as ‘Rolla” and his lovely daughter Gabrielle, as “Gabbino”!  He lived life well and made everyone around him better somehow.  He touched so many people throughout his life, some have even expressed recently how he actually saved their life in combat or how he motivated them when they felt like giving up.  In the unit he was always known as a prankster!  No one knew if he was telling the truth but it was always in fun.
Dameion is proceeded in death by his brother Dominic Bedell and grandparents: Willie C. Bedell, Viriginia and Willie Prather
He leaves behind his legacy and his memories to be cherished by his mother Victoria Prather of Pine Mountain, GA and his father Gary Prather (Patricia) of LaGrange, GA; his loving daughter Gabrielle Prather and his loving son Dameion Prather Jr. of Fort Hood, TX; his brothers: Joshua Prather, and Milan-Jay Prather, and Tahjay Miller; his sister Meka Prather; maternal grandmother: Marie Bedell. two aunts Trudie (Stanley) Childs, Tammy (Joseph) Jones; seven uncles Anthony (Valerie) Bedell, Willie Bedell, Mickie Bedell, Travis Bedell, Willie (Genita) Prather, Timothy (LaTonga), and Roderic (Linda) Prather; 5 nephews and 3 nieces; special friends Derrick “Dome” Owens, Kavious Leonard, Shad Carter; a host of cousins, other relatives and a multitude of friends.

In accordance with State ordinance mask and social distance are required.

Viewing will take place on Friday, February 26, 2020 at 1:00 - 3:00 P.M.
