Dea. Hardy Owens

September 22, 1922 — January 20, 2015

The late Jennie and Harrison Owens was blessed with a special angel, they named him Hardy.

He got his education in the public school system. He was affiliated with the church of Christ where he help to build the church. He was an entrepreneur at an early age, where he ran a store on Holy Hill.

He was kind hearted, helping where ever he could. He served in the United States Army during the World War II.

He joined the New Hope Baptist Church. Upon returning to Manchester for a few years he moved to Philadelphia, where he married Rosa, there he lived there for 50 years.

Ever year he would return to his church while in Philadelphia he was affiliated with the Enon Baptist Church, where he served in many capacities. After returning he moved back to Manchester in 2001 where he met and married Virginia Prather Owens and was reunited with the New Hope Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memories: A loving and devoted wife: Virginia Owens; Two daughters: Rosa Harris and Yvonne Hardnett; Four sons: Willie (Genita), Timothy (Tonga), Gary ( Patricia), Roderick (Linda); A special grandson: Matthew Shuman; One sister: Leandy Prather; Sixteen grandchildren, ten great- grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends that will miss him dearly.
