Deacon Bill Jackson Jr. was born to the late Sue Cooper Barnes Jackson and Junior Jackson in Raleigh, Georgia on March 26, 1941.
Bill knew at an early age he wanted to be a soldier in the Lord's army, so he joined the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church at an early age. During his tenure at the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, where he served faithfully and diligently; until his health failed, he was a Deacon on the Deacon board, the Treasurer of the church and Sunday school teacher for many years.
He was employed at the Farmers Curb Market for many years as well as the Manchester Police Department where he served on the force until he retired in 2000. He also served as a police officer in Greenville, GA, and as the Chief of Police in Woodland, GA.
Deacon Jackson went peacefully to be with Lord late Wednesday night, January 14, 2015, leaving behind a great legacy of thoughtful, loving and caring children, aspiring grandchildren and great grandchildren who will always remember him.
He was preceded in death by three (3) brothers Harrison, Walter Lee and Lee Thomas Barnes and four (4) sisters Mary Thomas, Grace Gardner, Annie Bell Jenkins and Emma Lina Hunt.
He leaves to celebrate his life and his legacy his loving children: David Owens, Manchester, GA., Curtis (Margretha King) Jackson, Norcross, GA., James Jackson, Newnan, GA., Greg (Debra) McCauley, Valdosta, GA, Matilda (Greg) Steverson, LaGrange, GA., William Hunt, Raleigh, GA., Vincent Jackson, Warm Springs, GA., Beverly Jackson , Newnan, GA and Stacy (Clayton) Niles, Augusta, GA., Seventeen grandchildren: William, Fallon, Jermaine, Dominique, Chandra, Vincent, Cornelius, Tamra, Gregory, Kyntraevius, Christian, Carmen, Jalen, David Jr., Alexis, Jasmine, and Samuel. Sixteen great grandchildren: Talia, Tyler, William III, Ilyass, Ny-Asia, Jermiya, Zyeria, Nialani, Leeah, Caleb, Kamilla, Israel, Jasiah, Zaylin, Jariya and Jaxson. Three sisters: Janie White, Raleigh, GA., Susie (Horace) Andrews and Bernice (Charles) William, all of Atlanta, GA., One brother- in - law: Bishop Willie Garner of Atlanta, GA. He also leaves two dear and devoted friends: Veola Jackson and Nettie Sullivan. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and sorrowing relatives and friends.
