Dorothy Louise Howe

June 16, 1947 — December 25, 2021

Dorothy Louise Howe was born to the late J.C. Howe and the late Jewell Freeman Howe on June 16,1947 in Meriwether County in Manchester, Georgia.  Dorothy grew up as her mother pride and joy. She as a little girl enjoyed summers with her aunt Emily and uncle Emmitt or as she referred to him as “uncle Buck” and their children playing in the fields and eating Aunt Emily’s fresh cooked meals from her garden. Dorothy always had family to play with. She was blessed to grow up with a host of cousins around her in Manchester right outside her door.

She Graduated class of 1965 Meriwether County Training school. She went on to gain her Bachelor of Science degree from Morris Brown College in 1969.

She went on to work for the U.S. Postal Service in 1967 starting out as a LMS Clerk and soon moved her way up through the ranks till she arrived as the LMS Supervisor where she excelled. She did not stop there she soon found herself in in upper management where she ended her service of 33 years with the  Post Office in 2001.

Dorothy was a faithful servant of the Lord and served as a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia. Dorothy was a classy well-spoken woman who enjoyed international travel as well as spending time with family and friends. She was loving to all and generous to a fault. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her mother Jewell Freemen Hough and her father J.C Hough.

She is survived by her brother: John Clifford Hough of Manchester, Georgia, Wilmer H Skrine ( “sister cousin”) of Atlanta, Georgia;  Mary H Osley (cousin) of Detroit Michigan, Linda H Youngblood (cousin) of Milledgeville, Georgia and Mary M Hough (cousin) of Haddock, Georgia. One honorary sister and closest friend Sarah Birdsong. A host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and  friends.

Public Viewing will be held on Sunday, January 2, 2022 from 1:00 – 3:00.
