Emmett Melson Jr was born on December, 15 th 1952 in Warm Springs, Ga to the Emmett Sr and Annie Mae Melson. He was the second oldest of five children.

Emmett’s walk with the Lord began at an early age.  In his adolescent years, he joined Spring hill Baptist Church. Later in life, he faithly attended New Hope Baptist Church along with his family. He enjoyed the sermons, listening to Reverend Walker sing, and the hospitality of the church.

He attended MCT school through grades 1 st – 11 th and in 1971, MCT and Manchester High School both were combined and he graduated from Manchester High School.

After graduation, he worked at Goody Products for a year before relocating to Atlanta, GA. While there, he worked for Float-Away company. In 1979, he was hired as a Conductor by the Railroad company in Manchester, GA. After 33 and ½ years of service he retired with CSX.

He loved dogs, fishing, playing cards, watching a good western movie, listening to old school R&B, watching almost every Atlanta sports team, catching a good episode of Family Feud and, hanging with family and friends. One of his favorite family traditions was to give almost every child a nick-name.  All of the kids knew, if you came to Bubba’s house, you were going to get some type of treat.

Emmett was united in holy matrimony to Marsha Gail Copeland of Manchester, GA on May 26, 1986 and to that union, two sons were born: Keon and Keire.
