Franklin Delano Taylor

November 1, 1942 — May 2, 2020

Deacon Franklin Delano Taylor was born November 1, 1942, in Talbot County, Georgia to the late Hezekiah and Alice K. Taylor.

Franklin confessed hope in Christ at an early age.  He was baptized at Salem Baptist Church in Talbotton, Georgia.

Franklin received his education in the Talbot County School System.

In 1958 Frank sister Frances sent for him to move to Chicago to find work.  He was tired of working so hard cutting down trees in Georgia.  Franklin found work at The Precision Plating Company  in Chicago, where he worked diligently as a Metal Plater for 32 years.  He always read his bible and prayed for his co-workers: Rev. Haney, Olivia Sanders, Dora Burton, he often brought them apples from Michigan.

In 1962-1967 Franklin married Callie Ayers to this union one child was born Charrass Taylor.

In 1968-1993 Franklin married Essie Williams and to this union three children were born: Quartez, Sinatra and Sakita.

God’s faithful servant he and his wife Essie joined Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Chicago where they served as ushers.

In 1985 Franklin moved Essie and the kids to South Haven, Michigan.  He and his family joined Trinity Missionary Baptist Church where he became a Deacon and served in the Finance Department.

He served faithfully  until his health failed.

A Praying man of faith, Deacon Taylor would go to the Nursing Homes every Saturday all day to pray for the residents he would bring them apples , cards and cash.

Deacon Taylor loved his Christian Life, church family, praying for everyone he came in contact with doing what God would have him to do. Visiting the sick and praying for them was his ministry.

In 2002 Deacon Taylor lived with his sister Lucy in Chicago where she assisted him in his care.  In 2008 Deacon Taylor’s sister Jean and brother-in-law : Mike Coppage relocated to Chicago to assist his niece Janette (Denise) with his care.  He received the best family care until he died “ our Family Motto it takes a village.”

Deacon Franklin transitioned from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Saturday, May 2, 2020.  He is preceded in death by one son: Quatez Taylor.  Four siblings: Mary Young, Murray Harris, Joan Steed and Stanley Taylor.

He leaves to cherish his memory Callie Taylor of Chicago, IL, Essie Taylor of South Haven, MI.  Three children: Charrass Taylor of Chicago, IL.  Sinatra Taylor of Indianapolis, IN and Sakita Taylor of Kalamazoo, MI.  Six grandchildren: Norvell Taylor, Sikita Taylor, Deandre Taylor, Ivory Brooks, Eddie Garcia and Sincere Taylor.  Eight great-grandchildren.  Eight Siblings: Willie Mae Copeland of Conley, GA.; Frances Lawrence of Shiloh, GA.; Lucy Griffin of Manchester, GA.; Martha ( Willie) Ruth of Atlanta, GA.: Jean ( Michael) Coppage of Shiloh,GA.; Bernadine Taylor of Fort Lauderdale, FL.; Norman ( Margaret) Taylor of Fairburn, GA.;  Roy (Gloria) Taylor of Columbus, GA.;

He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will miss him dearly.
