Harold Dixon

February 28, 1954 — September 23, 2016

Harold Dixon was born February 28, 1954 in Talbot County, Georgia to the late Bro. Willie Ben Dixon and Sis. Adell Waller Dixon. He was the youngest of seven children. He was affectionately called "Hal."

On Friday, September 23, 2016, after reporting to work at MARTA Lenox Transit Station, God summoned Hal to come home and rest.

At an early age, Hal dedicated his life to God and joined the St. Paul CME Church. He served as Superintendent of Sunday School for several terms. In 1988, he received Certificate of Merit Award from Vacation Bible School Committee. While in Atlanta, he attended the Zion Grove Baptist Church, Ellenwood, Georgia.

Hal graduated from Central High School, Class of 1972, Talbotton, Georgia.
He was the Class President.

His career with MARTA began January, 2002, as Rail Station Maintenance. Hal was a dedicated employee. In 2006, Hal received award for "Station of the Month" for MARTA Employee's Commitment, Leadership and Consistent "Quality of Work." He was truly loved by his co-workers. Prior to joining MARTA, he was employed with Air Tran Air Lines as a Safety Inspector. Previous employers included Mead Packing Company and Milliken Mills in Manchester, GA.

Hal was excited about his upcoming retirement in January 2017. He organized a Western Caribbean Cruise for his 45th Class Reunion for September 2017.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; Horace Dixon and Willie James Dixon.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories: three sisters, Ruby J. Barron of Youngstown, OH; Juanita Frazier of Atlanta, GA; Patricia Coffee of Lithonia, GA and one brother, Larry (Josephine) of Riverdale, GA; one sister-in-law, Annie Lois Dixon of Warm Springs, Ga, A special Aunt Mattie Daniel of Columbus, OH; special buddies Taj and JT Brayboy; a host of nieces, nephews; great nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives. Special friend, Pam Woodard. We will miss him dearly.
