On January 4, 1938 the sun rose on the birth of Joe Lee Jenkins. He was born in Warm Springs, Ga. His birth parents were the late Inez Terrell and Clenton Ballard.
Inez (mother) late married the late Oscar Jenkins. Together they raised Joe Lee and eight other brothers and sisters. He also had two more brothers and another sister.
He joined Leverette Hill Baptist Church at an early age. He served in the Armed Forces (Army) until June 30,1962. He worked and retired from Bonnell of Newnan, Ga.
He united in holy matrimony to Mattie Ferguson on March 16,1965 and to this union two children was born.
On April 11,2014 at the Warm Springs Medical Center at 1:38pm he was called home. He was preceded in death by his wife: Mattie Ferguson and his son Joe Lewis Jenkins.
He leaves to cherish his memory a daughter Helen Jenkins( Tony) of Talbotton, GA; One grandson Jakobe Walker; five sister: : Lizzie Jenkins, Nora Harris, Inez Carter, and Georgia Minniefield all of Warm Springs, Ga. Shenita Ballard of Atlanta, GA; three brothers: Hubbard Jenkins of Warm Springs, GA, Cody (Valerie) Ballard, Sr, of East Point, Ga. , Clenton (Pam) Ballard, Jr, of San. Antonio, TX, one sister-law Virginia Prather of Manchester, GA, two aunts: Minnie Walton of Philadelphia, PA, and Doris Bair of Waterford, NJ. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends that will miss him dearly.
