Mother Mandy F. Holmes was born in Talbot County, GA on June 16, 1944 to the late Deacon Golden & Sister Mary Analiza Holmes. She departed this life Sunday, October 17, 2021.
In addition, to her father and her mother, she was preceded in death by her son Stacey Holmes, God-daughter Latikka Holmes-Baldwin, twelve siblings, Mattie Bell Tucker, Eddie Lee Holmes, Golden Holmes, Jr., Willie B. Holmes, Richard Holmes, Mattie Holmes, Daisy Horton, Dorothy Walker, Marvin Holmes, Lovie Lee Hixson, Mary Liza Parks and Bobby G. Holmes.
Mother Mandy confessed Christ at an early age and became a member of Valley Grove Baptist Church and enjoyed singing in the Gospel Ensemble Choir. At a young age, she enjoyed working on the family farm, where her love for gardening continued into her adulthood. During her younger years, she spent time working at Callaway Mill and being an in-home care giver. Mother Mandy really enjoyed dancing, baking and spending time with her family. She let her light shine by demonstrating her love, compassion and devotion to her family through her cooking, raising children, baby-sitting, teaching, opening her home to anyone in need, praying, and being a shoulder to lean on; all with a beautiful smile. To many, she will be known as the Greatest of All Time (GOAT) for baking her delicious cakes.
Mother Mandy leave to cherish her memories two children: Pastor Franklin (Portia) Holmes and Cynthia Holmes-Brown of Shiloh, GA; one God-daughter: Lateeka (Tara) Holmes of Columbus, GA; three grand-children: Kimber Holmes, Kiera Holmes, & Aiesha Fobbs of Shiloh, GA; two God-grandchildren: Theodore Baldwin IV of Talbotton, GA & Distenze Holmes of Columbus, GA; one great-grandchild: Nolan Addoh-Kondi of Shiloh, GA; two brothers: John Lewis (Willie Mae) Holmes & Wilbert Holmes; three sisters: Rubye Holmes, Earlene (Larry) Neal, Louise (Grady) Trice; one sister-in-law: Sandra Holmes; two caring and devoted friends: Eddie Trice & Bernice Prather; and an abundance of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends that will miss her dearly.
Viewing will be held on Friday, October 22, 2021 from 1:00 - 6:00pm.
Masks and Social distancing will be required at this service.
