Mother Martha Lee Buchanan was born in Manchester, GA September 24, 1932 to the late Mrs. Clara Jones and Mr. Roscoe Brown, Sr.

Mother Buchanan was educated in Meriwether County School system. Mother Buchanan retried from CAFI Headstart after many year of service. She was a Mother to many people, a very sweet praying mother. She expressed in words and action her love and affection toward all.

Mother Buchanan became a member of New Hope Baptist Church at a young age and later moved to Bridge Street COGIC. The church was later renamed Grace Tabernacle where she enjoyed singing in the choir and was a licensed Missionary Worker. She was appointed as one of the Mothers of the church. Mother Buchanan served faithfully for many years until her health started falling her.

Among those who preceded her in death include her parents Roscoe and Clara Buchanan Sr. Her husband of of forty-nine years Curvin Buchanan Sr. sisters: Ruth Stephens, Marinell Nixon, Naomi B. Prahther. Son-in-laws: JeAnd'ne Martin and Andrew Tucker.

Mother Buchanan departed this earthly life on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at West Georgia Hospice, LaGrange. Ga.

Cherishing her memories are her children: Curvin L. Buchanan, Jr. (Diane), Jimmy L. Buchanan (Patricia) Manchester, Ga.; James A. Buchanan (Janice) of Niceville, Fla.; Linda B. Martin, Teresa L. Tucker, Stanley B. Buchanan (Robin), Bobby B. Buchanan (Pamela) all of Manchester, GA.; Kenneth A. Buchanan (Angie) of Stone Mountain, GA.; Robert Tucker (Frances) of Greenville, GA.; Marinell Lightsey (Ronnie) of Orlando, FLA.; Twenty-five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren. One brother: Rosco Brown Jr. of College Park, GA.; Two sisters: Elizabeth Shelton of Atlanta, GA.; Rachel (Joe) Howe of Manchester, GA.; Two brother-in-laws: Andrew Nixon Sr. of Manchester, GA.; and Joe D. Prather of Chattanooga, TENN. Two special friends: Mother Mary Ward and Bennie Wolfolk. A host of nieces, nephews , relatives and friends that will miss her dearly.
