“Mat” moved away from home at an early age and resided in Orlando Florida before moving to Buffalo N.Y. After missing her parents and siblings she decided to pack up her family and move back to Manchester, Georgia in 1976. It was beautiful to be around family. She worked at Manchester Middle School as the “Cafeteria Lunch Lady” As her children, we would get extra cookies on our plate and maybe even an ice cream from time to time. She than begin working at Goody Products where she later retired. After retirement, she loved getting in her little white Mazda and riding around the neighborhood. She loved being around cousin Sue, cousin Viola and cousin Barbara Jean sitting in the yard cooking those skins. She also loved sitting on the porch with her niece Greta Weaver and her family until she couldn’t get down that hill anymore. She also loved, love, loved talking with cousin Annie Ruth Reeves aka Sweetie on the phone.
Her dear friend Beverly Terry was a true friend to her when our mom could no longer drive herself and would take to the bank and grocery store and just go sit and talk with her on a regular basis, and we are very thankful to her for that.
