Peacefully, on Saturday, April 2,2016, Sister Mattie Copeland departed this life at Warm Springs Nursing Home in Warm Springs, GA.
Mattie (affectionately known to some "Snap") was born on June 10, 1942 to the late Bennie Frank and Mary Copeland.
She joined St. Paul C.M.E. Church at an early age and attended faithfully until her health changed.
Mattie enjoyed cooking and taking care of her flowers until her health failed. She also loved taking care of others. Mattie was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, niece, aunt and friend.
Mattie was preceded in death by siblings; Lucille Copeland, Johnnie Emma Hardnett, Bobbie Jean Copeland, Bennie Mae Copeland, James Copeland and Bobby Lee Copeland.
She leaves to mourn: One son: Robert James Copeland. One grandson: Cornelius ( Carshawn)Copeland of Douglasville, GA.; Two great grandchildren: Christen and Corrnelius Copeland II of Douglasville, GA.; One sister: Bernice Howard of Columbus, GA.; One sister-in-law: Lizzie Copeland; four uncles: James Copeland of Redding, Penn.; Claude (Sarah) Copeland, Zannie (Patricia) Copeland both of Warm Springs, GA.; Emanuel Owens of Atlanta, GA.; Three aunts: Emma Copeland of Shiloh, GA.; Thelma Harris of Detroit, MI.; and Mattie R. Terry of Boston, Mass. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
