On December 24, 1941 Rev. Ed Harris was born in Woodbury,
Georgia to the parents of Rev Willie Andrew and Sister Doris Patrick Harris. He grew, matured, and was educated in the schools of Meriwether County, Woodbury, Georgia. He graduated from the then Woodbury High School in the class of 1961. In January 1964 he began his military career and honorably served through January of 1966.
He united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Dorothy V. Owens and to that union two children were born.
At an early age he joined the New Hope Baptist Church of Manchester, Georgia and later became an ordained deacon of this
Church. Years later he was called into the ministry and became a
Licensed minister on March 5, 1995. He served as pastor of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Gay, GA.
Rev. Harris was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, David Harris and one sister, Elizabeth Harris.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife, Dorothy; two children: Vincent (Cynthia) Harris, Augusta, GA and Pamela (Rodney) Hester of Byron, GA; one brother, Rev. Edward (Helen) Harris, Woodbury, GA; two sisters: Rosia (JC) Redwine, Newnan, GA; and Willie (James) Rolax, Woodland, GA; one step-sister and brother: Willie Ann Bailey of Manchester, GA; and Benjamin Collins, Savannah, GA; one aunt: Wyvonnia Patrick; one uncle: Ponce de Leon Patrick, Woodbury, GA; two grandchildren: Vincent Harris, Jr., and Ja'Dore Hester, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
