Bro. Sammy Louis was the oldest child born to the late Louis and Annie Maud Mitchell on April 28, 1943.

Bro. Sammy Louis joined the Flint River Baptist Church at an early age. He graduated from Ruth Carter High School in the Class of 1961 in Talbotton, Ga.

Sammy Louis departed his life on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at Emory Midtown Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.

Sammy was preceded in death by his wife Arlean Mitchell, four brothers: Arthur Lee Mitchell, Elijah Mitchell George Mitchell and Curtis Mitchell. One Stepson: Paul Vaughn.

He leaves to cherish his memory a daughter: Shameka Lashon Mitchell of Douglasville, GA.; Two Stepdaughters: Shirley Steverson and Linda F. Mitchell of Atlanta, GA.; Three grandchildren: Dantavious Rennard Mitchell, Sariyah Douresa Avneett and Londan Denae Cluster. Two great-grandchildren: Luke Mason Mitchell and Dhemi Dior Jenesis Mitchell. Five sisters: Emily (Eddie) Birts of Greenville, GA.; Corene Mitchell and Veronica Ann White both of Woodland, GA.; Janice (Reginald) Baldwin of Stone Mountain, GA.; and Dina Jones of Atlanta, GA.; Three sisters-in-law: Linda Mitchell and Louise Mitchell both of Talbotton, GA.; and Linda Faye Mitchell of Atlanta, GA.; One aunt: Betty Jo Hobbs of Thomaston, GA.; He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
