Tongi Laquia Copeland

January 1, 1969 — May 7, 2020

On New Year’s Day ( January 1 ) 1969 Bettye Faye Hodo was overwhelmed with joy.  God had given her a new baby girl.  Her name would be Tongi Laquia.

Much can be said about the Life of Tonji.  It can be said that she was a hard, devoted worker, spending 20 years employed at Meriwether County Health Department.  As a nurse providing many of the area’s children with required vaccines (shots) working with the young and old to the point she would be asked for by name.  It can also be said that Tongi was a friendly, soft spoken young lady a fun-loving go-getter.  Tongi will be remembered for different qualities in her life, however, she would much rather be remembered for these things.

First , Tongi LOVED THE LORD .  She worshiped regularly as a disciple of Valley Grove Baptist Church.  Her faith was strong in the Lord.  Tongi knew that all of her blessings came from the Lord.  She trusted in the Lord and believed in and had faith that the Lord would / could do the unspeakable, perform miracles and she knew Him to be her healer, provider, comforter and way maker.

Secondly , Tongi LOVED HER FAMILY. She believed family to be very important.  Tongi Loved spending time with her3 famiy. She enjoyed large family gatherings or just spending time with her husband, Dexter, or her children, Saivon and Sequioa.  Family meant everything to Tongi and she strived to have a positive, healthy relationship with them.  Dexter, Saivon and Sequoia were her love, her heart.  And when her grandchild Ta’Liyah was born, her heart was complete and filled with joy.

Finally , Tongi LOVED LIFE .  She liked meeting new people going to new places and learning about different things.  Because she loved life, Tongi seldom let things or people steal her joy throught tough times and situations, Tongi remained content and happy with her Life.  She strived to keep a smile on her face and her head high.
