Vernita Jenkins

September 3, 1976 — February 7, 2021

Vernita Shantella “Pokay” Jenkins-Bowles was born on September 3, 1976, to Mary Ann Wamble Jenkins and the late Deacon Willie Edmond Jenkins Jr in Warm Springs, Georgia. “Pokay” as everyone knew her by was loved by everyone she came into contact with.

She was a 1995 graduate of Manchester High School. She was employed at Alvista Healthcare Center which is now known as Pruitt Health of Greenville for over 16 years where she was a Certified Nursing Assistant. She then went into private duty nursing care until her health begin to fail. Even though she experienced her sickness she fought hard to the end.

Vernita was also a member of the Leverette Hill Baptist Church where she faithfully attended church until her health restricted her from attending, however, she listened and watched online services and phone conferences. She was a firm believer of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and whenever she was sick, she called on Him for healing power.

Vernita was joined in Holy Matrimony to James Donald Bowles where they shared many years of marriage.

Vernita departed this life on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at Piedmont Newan Hospital.

She will be preceded in death by her father Deacon Willie Edmond Jenkins Jr. and some incredibly special aunts Ida

Wamble, Annie Grace Terry, and Geraldine Copeland.

She leaves her legacy and mourning to her dear family who strongly supported her through the good and the bad: Her husband James Donald Bowles, Her mother Mary Ann Wamble Jenkins. Brothers Reverend Dr. Ricky Wamble (Maria), Clint Wamble, and Kyntraevius Anderson. Her devoted sisters Jennifer Jenkins, Leslie Jenkins (Dexter) and Stacy Niles (Clayton). Her loving grandmothers, Daisy Jenkins and Carrie Mae Bowles. Her loving mother-in-law Dorothy Parks. Her Father-in-law Donnell Cox Jr. Her aunts Betty Jenkins, Allie Mae Blackmon, Yashica Williams and Latasha Williams, Barbara (Andre) Ferrell, Priscilla (Orlanda)Clemons, Mary (Carl) Brown, and Mary (Curt) Martin and Louise Wamble. Uncles Rudolph Owens, Isiah Holt, George Pitts, Willie James Wamble, Roosevelt Riley, and Charles Campbell (Ethel). Her loving and blessed sisters in love Karen (Adrian) Jackson, LaSonya (Dee) Snelling, and Alexandria (Marcus)Towns. Her brother-in-love Travis Bowles. Her Nieces whom she loved dearly Shaneidrea (Stacy) Charity, Erekah-Jmare, Adriaunna, Darriuna, Faith, Zyeria, Arielle, Natalie, Gracie, Alexis, and Ava. Nephews whom she adored: Mario (Tiara), Ezekiel (Bryana), Arkez, Trinity, Brandon, Ahmir, Keyshawn, Caleb, Josiah, Michael, and Kayden. Special friends Stisha Mitchell, Shareefah Thompson, Stephanie Murrah, Charletta Cure, Zelda Ford, Darlene and Melvis Miller, and Eric Kendall.  Her godmother Catherine Owens. She will also be missed by all her special cousins, former coworkers, clients and other friends.
