Virginia Johnson Hamler

January 20, 1953 — March 6, 2021

On March 6, 2021 at 9:00 p.m. Saturday, at Upson Regional Medical Center in Thomaston, Georgia, the angels of heaven descended to earth to deliver Virginia J. Hamler “Momma V” to our Heavenly Father.

Virginia was born on January 20, 1953 in Talbot County to the loving parents of the late John Johnson Jr. and Adrine Copeland Johnson.

She joined St Paul CME Church at an early age.  She was known for her beautiful smile, courageous and faithful spirit.

Momma V, as she was affectionately known, was educated in the Talbot County school system.

She held jobs at Family Dollar, Rite-Aid, Playtex, Dundees, Dairy Queen, and AngioDynamic until her health started failing.

Virginia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to all that knew and loved her.  She was an excellent cook and was very well-known for her delicious soul food and spinach dip.  She liked dancing and spending time with family, especially her AngioDynamic family where she earned the name “Momma V”.

She was preceded in death by her sister and brother Elaine Traylor and Jeffery Johnson.  In 2006 Virginia defeated the battle against cancer.

Virginia leaves to morn her passing and cherish her memories a loving and devoted husband: Willie Marion Hamler Jr.; three children: Wanda Hamler Searcy, William Hamler (Kenyetta), and Vernon Hamler (Nicole); seven grandchildren: Diamondnique, Adazia, Elijah, Aquazia, Jayden, & Jayvon; three great-grandchildren: Mckhai, Mckenly, and Brea’; four sisters:  Mattie Johnson, Rosie Jarrett (Earnest), Dorothy Deloach, and Yvonne Johnson; one brother: Stanley Johnson; one sister-in-law Tracy Green;  and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends that will miss her dearly.  Momma V also carried Tynikia, Jayla, Jayda, Brittany and Shaisty close to her heart.

In accordance with State guidance, mask must be worn and social distance is required.
