Willie Doulas 'Dike' 'Sonny' Thornton

Willie Douglas Thornton also known as "Dike" or "Sonny" age 73 died Sunday, June 19, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA. He was born on October 13,1942 in Talbot County, GA to the late Milton Thornton and Daisy Bell Thornton. He graduated from Ruth Carter High and later joined the United States Air Force where he received additional training.

Willie served in the United States Air Force until retirement with an Honorable Discharge. He worked many years overseas in the Middle East. He traveled the world before returning home. He was a proud Veteran, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He was devoted to his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and Brother Rudolph Thornton.

He is survived by his three sons: Quaterrio (Doris) Williams, Timothy (Monique) Liles, Octavious (Kimberly) Carter; one daughter: Debbie Williams. Two sisters: Daisy Mitchell and Bernice Harvey. Six Grandchildren: Trey, Tryia, Cortez, Deonte, Kamouria and Jakayla. One aunt: Louise Holmes. A special niece that was raised as a sister Elizabeth (Charlie) Thornton. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends that will miss him dearly.
