Willie James Copeland was born on February 6, 1941 in Meriwether Co. Manchester, Georgia. He was the oldest of seven children born to Jennie Lee Copeland.
Willie James learned at a very early age to care for his family. He sacrificed finishing school to work many different jobs to help provide for his family. His work habits and ethics would often earn him lead roles on his jobs. His favorite job and lead role was that with Fuller Construction Company, where he took great pride in doing a job well done and earned the reputation of excellence.
On May 13, 2017 God called Willie James home from this earthly life to be with Him. He was preceded in death by a brother Bobby Smith, a wife Barbara S. Copeland, and a grandmother Maybelle McAfee.
He leaves to cherish his memories a loving mother Jennie Lee Copeland; two sisters Edith (Terry) Riggins, Ann (Sylvester) Johnson; two brothers John Giddens and Henry Giddens; three daughters LaKeitha (Edward decd.) Johnson, Valencia (Styland) Scott, and Wendy (Norcus) Steed. Two sons Victor Hill and Tyrice (Bennetta) Holt. A very special companion Sheila Harris, and a loving ex-wife and friend Ann Russell Campbell. A very close family of cousins; Eugene (Peggy) Copeland, Jake (Dorthy) Copeland, Grace Copeland, Mamie Copeland and MaryAnn (Michael) Searcy. Also he leaves 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, and many, many friends that will miss him dearly.
